Webinar Purpose:

These new Patient Visitation Interpretive Guidelines became effective October 7, 2011 and explain the federal regulation on visitation, which include changes to informed consent, informed decision making, participation in the plan of care and advance directives. This webinar will describe in detail the final interpretive guidelines and help equip hospitals to understand these changes and will provide tips to comply. Hospitals will need to get their visitation committee back together and ensure that the hospital policy includes this new information plus educating the staff on the changes. This program will also cover the new Joint Commission patient centered care standard on visitation which will be included in surveys after January 1, 2012.
